32. GOTS Annual Congress: "Digital patient file - is that manageable?"

THE INTEREST OF PEOPLE TO LIVE A LONG, well-balanced and most importantly healthy life is constantly increasing. Activity, nutrition, organ activity, etc. - everything can be tracked and measured via mobile phones and apps. Consequently, the German health care sector needs to be committed to the continuously advancing digitalisation. Especially a better usage of data as well as the implementation or rather the continuation of patient autonomy play an essential part.

Stefan Heilmann regularly talks about the digital trends and he emphasizes that e-health is one of the major trends these days. In 2016 he has founded the company DoctorBox. DoctorBox puts its focus on digital health, the data management within this sector and the creation of digital patient files.

Heilmann explains the concept of DoctorBox as follows: "Our approach is completely different than the one of the legislator. Their projects have always failed due to data security and data protection. The fundamental mistake was that patient data could be accessed through insurances, hospitals and doctors. We want to create an electronic file that is solely controlled by the patient. Just the patient himself determines who can see which data."

Sport Medicine Meets Internet

FROM JUNE 22nd TILL JUNE 24th 2017 the 32nd GOTS Annual Congress was hosted in Berlin at the Grand Hotel Esplanade Berlin with 617 attendees and 48 firms. Sports medicine meets Internet was one of the major topics during the second conference day. Prof. Dr. Philipp Niemeyer, Medical Specialist for orthopaedics and trauma surgery, and Jörg Rheinbold, entrepreneur and CEO at Axel Springer Plug and Play Accelerator, lead through the program. The podiums discussion was completed by Maks Giordano, CEO at kreait and e-health enthusiast, and IEG Managing Director Stefan Heilmann. Ole Tilmann, Communication Coach and Innovation Consultant moderates this session.

Additionally to joining the podium discussion, Maks Giordano and Stefan Heilmann will each present an individual keynote. Maks Giordano talks about "Digital benefits? Chances and risks of digitalisation in orthopaedics and trauma surgery" and Stefan Heilmann discusses the topic: "Digital patient files - is that manageable?" (Download).
