Post-Merger Integration in Medium-Sized Companies - Lars Härle focuses on cross-border transactions

"Internationalisation via Cross-Border Transactions and their Distinct Characteristics within the Post-Merger Process"

LARS HÄRLE STATES THAT "the M&A activities of German companies abroad have continiously increased within all sectors over the last 10 years" by pointing out that the amount of cross-border transactions grew from 138 in 2004 to 350 in 2014. The execution of the deals lead to complex challenges especially considering language, culture, perception of risk as well as the special characteristics of the due diligence process.

Like-minded cultures facilitate the entire process

GERMAN COMPANIES THEREFORE TEND TO PREFER cross-border deals with "like-minded" and culturally close nations as transaction partners. Especially the USA as the largest single market in the world seems to be the most interesting market for German companies. The whole chapter on "Internationalisation via Cross-Border Transactions and their Distinct Characteristics within the Post-Merger Process" can be found in the publication "Post-Merger Integration in Medium-Sized Companies", a compendion for entrepreneurs by Springer Gabler. The book can be ordered here!
